butter me up!
This past holiday season I've become obsessed with butter's nail lacquers. I so far have only purchased these two colors, I had to stop myself from buying them in bulk because they are pricey ($15 each). I never thought that drugstore brands were any different than those at Sephora or other beauty supple stores, after trying these polishes though I see why people splurge. The colors of these polish are beautiful and stay on! I can not rave enough about them, so the next time you're shopping for polishes have the mantra of parks and rec character Tom Haverford and... TREAT YO'SELF!

what's in my make up bag? (basics)
I am a makeup addict. I love trying new products, yet I have settled in knowing what makeup works best as a base for my skin.
Primers are one of the greatest beauty products to invest in, it sets your skin for a smooth application of foundation (or any other product). I mix smashbox's photo-ready primer and benefit's girl meets pearl (the one's pictured are my travel sizes because I was to lazy to go to my bathroom to get the actual bottles). When used alone the benefit product is to shimmery for everyday, when mixed these primers work beautifully together. As for my foundation I yet again, mix two together. I use Loreal's true match in porcelain W1 and Sephora collection 10 hour liquid foundation in 10 light ivory. I have yellow undertones and fair skin, so these match my skin perfectly. I mix the two because alone, the Loreal brand tends to transfer easily, which is so annoying in the winter when you look down on your scarf and see foundation marks all over it. What I did to fix this problem without returning this foundation, is add a small dollop of Sephora's thicker formula. For under-eye I use Rimmel's match perfection in very fair. I set this concealer with a translucent powder, the most effective one I've tried so far is Sonia Kashuk's in 001 (purchased at Target). For setting my foundation I use Clinique's Superpowder in ivory. It may seem odd or overkill to set my foundation with a powder one, however the thickness of this product means that you need to use very little to set your makeup which leads to not having to purchase it often. Last but not least in my basics is my bronzer. I use both benefit's talk to the tan (liquid) and pur mineral's mineral glow. I use the benefit for my temples and nose and contour my cheeks with the mineral glow.
There it is folks! The bare bones of my everyday makeup looks!
new year, new post. top 3 hair products!
During my hungover state, I've decided to post a blog about some of my favorite hair products that I simply cannot live without. Being a girl with a restless spirit, I tend to dye my naturally blonde hair (gasp!) a ton of different shades. Since I dye it somewhat frequently I have to lean towards hair products that specialize in being lightweight, moisturizing and are safe for chemically treated hair. I'm showing my top 3 (so far) that I use daily and help soften my hair without making it greasy.
Due to my dry hair, I need to use a deep conditioner at least twice a week. I used a TON of masks for my hair, from brands like loreal to bumble and bumble. None of them worked as well as eva*nyc's therapy session hair mask. I'll be honest, I bought this by fluke when standing in line at urban outfitters, the packaging is what first enticed me, then the smell and of course the price ($14.99). There was no dramatic difference the first week I bought it ( I would leave it on at night and wash it out in the morning) but after a few weeks of using it twice weekly, I noticed my hair wasn't breaking off at the ends and it became soft with less flyaways. Argan oil may seem like a 'fad' or a 'buzz word' but I think this oil does wonders for dry and dull hair. I would highly recommend this mask for girls who love to dye their hair and lessen the harm it does to it!
As for a lightweight and effective hair product, this bumble and bumble styling crème is fantastic. I unfortunately have 'baby fine' and thin hair, so it doesn't take much product to make it greasy. With this styling crème that acts like a mousse and a gel. If you have naturally wavy hair like me, this product is great. It defines your natural texture and all you need is a quarter size dollop. For thinned hair girls, this really adds a lift to your roots when blown dry and adds texture to give the illusion of fullness. The price could be a turn off ($26) however it really does work and this bottle lasted me 6 months!
Last but not least, my eva*nyc rock-a-wave curl crème. I love this brand of hairproduct! I've just recently purchased this cream, and so far I'm hooked. This product probably could be used for straight hair because it is moisturizing, but it really works at bringing out your natural wave. The instructions say to use on damp hair and scrunch, I also repeat this when my hair dries because it tames flyaways beautifully.
So there we have it! A detailed description for my top 3 hair products (so far).

Getting Ready for NYE!
NYE is finally here! And I am taking my sweet time getting ready for tonight.I decided to really concentrate on my dark lips, and go pretty basic on the eyes. I've tried many products for dark lip color and I'm sorry to say that the drugstore brands can't compare to the more upscale ones when it comes to purple hues. This urban decay lipstick in venom is fantastic, it doesn't bleed or crack and it truly stays on all night.
As for my eyes I want a slight shimmer and some contouring, nothing major. The perfect shadows for this is my NAKED2 urban decay kit. The colors are buildable, so they are great for achieving subtle looks.
For my nails I got inspired by the oddest thing, tv static. Granted they look more like paint splatter but I still am obsessed. I used Revlon top speed nail color in Black Magic as my base, and layered on Maybelline Color Show in Clearly Spotted on top. These polishes are cheap and so far haven't chipped! I usually like a solid basic color on my nails but for nye I think this look is perfect.
So there we have the majority of my beauty products for tonight. I'll try and post more today but if not then, happy new years!

New Fashion Obsession.
I took the plunge. This past boxing day I finally bought a pair of doc martens. It wasn't the greatest deal but I fell in-love with them as soon as I saw Jessica Alba sporting them (along with Miley Cyrus in her wrecking ball music video). They are slightly frightening, due to the fact that if you don't pair them with the right outfit you could look like a punk rocker reject. I do think the burgundy is a less intense version of this boot, and the colour is so rich that it brings a coolness to even the most basic of jeans.
The 90's are back! And I'm welcoming the old trends with opened and flannel covered arms.
Jessica Alba, love how versatile she makes her docs.
Miley Cyrus rocking the more punk rock style, love her ballsy-ness!
